I purchased the photo of the Black Skimmer with the chick on her/his bill. I live in a hotel for months at a time for work, and this photo personalizes and graces an otherwise rather boring space. As I recently mentioned, your work gives me great pleasure and inspiration for my own photography. Cody Sontag

I can't believe that so many people don't know that coyotes live in Florida. They need to get out in the woods more often. In Columbia County, near Fort White, FL, they are over-running some places. People should have the proper respect for them, as they will kill and eat family pets, even good-sized dogs, and livestock. THEY ARE WILD ANIMALS!! I live in western Palm Bay, FL, and heard the unmistakeable sound of several of them yipping, howling, etc. about 5 nights ago, about 2AM.

Your photography is inspiring. I'm a bit of a nature photographer myself, especially the beaches & tidpools in our area. I'm thrilled to hear you plan to visit our Oregon Coast this spring. I'm confident you will enjoy it. We have a small B&B 6 miles south of the village of Yachats, 19 miles north of Florence. Here the Siuslaw National Forest meets the wonderful exposed basalt rock & sandy beaches of the Pacific. I'm including our website which has numerous links that you might find helpful. Let me know if I can help in anyway with your travel planning or questions you might have about the Oregon Coast.

I would love a copy of your Fort De Soto sunrise photo. I used to go shelling in Fort DeSoto Park with my dad. He passed away very young (57) but many fond memories live on. Thank you so very much for sharing. I haven't been back in many years!

Followed some links from flicker. Some amazing pictures, I love the "depth" you get in some of them. I just started out with a basic T21 and a 18-55, 55-250. (flicker endeavourhd)

What a marvelous journal of nature's happenings and the happenings along your life's path. I wish I knew how to make a comment on your images and writings, I would particularly like to thank you for the Klaus Memorial story... I just discovered it. It is done so tenderly and tastefully yet with such feeling. We will all miss him terribly.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/27901749@N04/5777062719/in/photostream/ I noticed your the red-egret photos also have a feather? coming from their backside. Initially in my photo I thought it was sea grass stuck in the feathers but your photos have it also. Is this for flight ? Do you know what it is?

Your work is beautiful, Michael, and I smiled with joy going through your images. Thank you for that gift.
My favorite is the squirrel peaking around the tree that avoided the hawk. :)

My husband and I saw what we think was a Coyote tonight in our neighborhood around 9 pm. It ran across our path as we were driving in. Long legs, long snout and ears and a thin body. It was not a dog. Your first photo looks just like it.

Is this possible?

Dear Michael,

I imagined for just a moment that I could see you rejoicing as you captured many of God's beautiful creatures through the eye of your camera; and a sense of peace filled my mind and heart. I can only imagine that you have had many moments like that.

Just thought I should let you know, as you prepare to celebrate your birthday.

Your friend,

Michael,
I enjoyed your images very much. I live in Lakeland and go to Circle B and Ft Desoto quite a bit to photograph birds and other wildlife. I know how difficult it can be to capture a nice crisp clear image. Where else do you venture?
Keep up the good work. Will check back.

Not being a true experienced photographer, I can only take credit for possessing a pretty good eye for detail. Viewing pictures from the conception of this personal venture of yours, I have many times encouraged you to take this "hobby" of yours a level higher. With the coronation of your new website, you will now realize the scope of talent you have obtained in such a short period of time. I wish you the best of luck with what I see as a prosperous new second career.

“It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter, because you can invent things. But in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the ordinary.” [David Bailey]

Michael,
These are lovely pictures. How do I add a link to your site to my "Shack on the Sand" site? I know that my guests would enjoy looking at your work. Did you leave your web address at the beach? If not I will put it on the desk.
It has been a joy to know you and Faith these past few years and I always enjoy hearing about what each of you are doing and your accomplishments. Ann WWW.SHACKONTHESAND.COM
